No NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) from 2014 | AIPMT 2014

There will be no NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) from 2014. The Supreme Court on Thursday, July 18, 2013 quashed the Medical Council of India’s (MCI) notification for holding a common entrance test — or the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) — for MBBS, BDS and post-graduate medical courses. AIPMT had been replaced by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) last summer, and lakhs of students appeared for it across the country. Although the court clarified that the admissions that have already taken place through NEET-2013 will not be affected.
There will be AIPMT from 2014. Subject to the final decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct an All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in the academic session 2014-15 for the 15% seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges all over India except in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir and also for admission to Medical/Dental Colleges voluntarily Participating in the test on Sunday, the 04th May, 2014 in selected cities across the Country and Abroad.
AIPMT 2014:
  • The Test date is 4th May 2014, Sunday.
  • The Entrance Test will consist of one paper with 180 objective type questions from the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (45 questions from each subject).
  • The Syllabus for this entrance examination is the same as notified by the Medical Council of India for NEET-UG which is available on website www.mciindia.org
AIPMT 2014 will be conducted only for the 15% national quota in government medical/dental colleges all over India, except in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The remaining seats will be filled by the state level examinations.
The AIPMT results are applicable only for 15% national quota seats in colleges so state Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) is gearing up to conduct its own entrance exam.
